I Submitted A Grant Application – Now What?

Thank you for your submission!  We can’t wait to read it.

After the December 14, 2020 deadline, all submissions will be collected by the  Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC), and compiled into the form of a PDF panel book, which will then be delivered to us at the local level.  Because of the holidays, we estimate that will happen sometime during the first week of January.  At that time, we can then begin to formally review the proposals and hold voting meetings, in which decisions will be made concerning the approval or denial of the applications.  Denial letters will be sent around the end of January.  At that time we submit our annual report to the MCC.  Once it is approved, we are then able to notify the successful applicants of their awards and the amounts, which will be around the end of February, or the beginning of March.  You will receive both denial and acceptance notifications from us via email.

You should note that our initial meeting to begin the application review process is currently scheduled for Thursday, January 14, 2021, at 7:00 pm.  You are invited to attend and tell us about your proposed project “in person”.  This meeting, like all of our current meetings, is a virtual one, via Town of Andover Webex.  It is not required that you attend.  We understand that not everyone will be available, but if you can, it’s a great opportunity to answer any particular questions we might have, and give us greater detail about your proposal.  You will need to let us know in advance if you plan to attend so we can schedule time for you to speak. Please contact us at acc01810@gmail.com. Keep your remarks under 5 minutes.  Remember, it’s a virtual meeting.  Once you confirm your participation you will receive the link via email.

You should also note that if you receive notification from us that your application was denied, you have the right the request reconsideration.  An applicant may request reconsideration of a decision if they can demonstrate that the LCC failed to follow published state guidelines and council priorities. Dissatisfaction with the denial of an application or with the amount of an award does not constitute grounds for reconsideration. Reconsideration requests must be made in writing and must be sent to both the LCC and the MCC within 15 days of the date the disapproval notification was sent. Please refer to the MCC website for more detailed instructions.
